Kelowna Neighbourhood Spotlight

Kelowna Neighbourhood Spotlight
If you’ve spent any time in Kelowna, you’ll be the first to admit that it’s so much more than just sunshine and wine. Kelowna has steadily been one of the fastest growing communities in Canada for quite some time – and for good reason. With incredible seasonal weather, booming construction, and incredible lifestyle options, this truly is the best place to call home.
Nestled in between all the vineyards, lakefront, cafes, restaurants, beaches and mountains are gorgeous neighbourhoods, ranging from vibrant city vibes to cozy suburbs. The real question is, which of Kelowna’s many neighbourhoods makes the most sense for you? Let’s take a quick look at a few key areas our city has to choose from:
If you’re looking for easy waterfront access, plenty of shops and amenities to choose from, all within a short drive to the rest of the city, then South Pandosy and the Lower Mission are calling your name. Between the quaint bike-path lined Abbott Street and its many beach accesses along the waterfront, to the growing condo community with restaurants and cafes near Gyro Beach, this neighbourhood has the perfect blend of older character homes and newer apartment options. Despite being a stone’s throw from downtown, it’s just far enough to have its own cozy community vibe without being right in the mix of things.
The Glenmore area is home to Kelowna’s family-friendly neighbourhoods, nestled amongst beautiful farm land and orchards, all accessible to the rest of the city within an arm’s reach. Just nearby lies the scenic Dilworth Mountain, which has similar appeal with larger family homes, nearly all of which have incredible views of the surrounding landscape. With many schools, shops, and quiet traffic-controlled communities, Glenmore has incredible curb appeal for families, retirees, and those looking for a more calm area to call home. This neighbourhood just might be the perfect balance of Kelowna’s scenery and convenience.
Kelowna’s downtown core has gone through an incredible growth spurt, now boasting plenty of apartment buildings, newer bars and restaurants, beach access within walking distance, and so many outdoor activities, markets and festivals throughout the year. Unsurprisingly, Downtown Kelowna is also a hot-spot for tourism, with plenty of sights and activities to be enjoyed by visitors and locals alike. With so many locals choosing to make Downtown their home due to its convenience for those preferring to walk or bike in their day-to-day commute, Kelowna’s core has become a year-round community thanks to ongoing development and innovation of infrastructure and amenities.
Stunning views in every direction, schools and amenities nearby, and access to plenty of wineries – the Upper Mission/Kettle Valley area is Kelowna’s scenic hot-spot. With a wide range of gorgeous and newly built large family homes, master-planned neighbourhoods like Kettle Valley and The Highlands, incredible views, luscious parks, vibrant vineyards, and tranquil energy, the Upper Mission is nothing short of surreal. Seemingly disconnected from the rest of the city, while still being accessible to the Lower Mission and South Pandosy, makes this breathtaking area so intriguing for those looking to bask in the Okanagan’s landscapes on their own terms.
